Anonymous
The installation titled Anonymous is made up of 277 ear tags that depict the global increase in meat production over the last seventy years. The ear tags, mass-produced with plastics, accumulate all the information about the animals throughout their life and keep it until the cattle are taken to the slaughterhouse. Erasing all information transforms the concrete into the generic, emphasizing processes of mass production and giving rise to an anonymous cemetery. These fragments remain as residues of a wider system, where waste becomes a quiet archive of commodification processes, echoing the transformation of living bodies and natural resources into standardized units. In their persistence, they gesture toward a disrupted ecology, where what once belonged to natural cycles of growth and decay is held in suspension.
